As an experienced network marketer, I am often asked by inexperienced friends what I do to make money on the net. It was confusing for me when I began finding merchants to affiliate myself with, and it can still be confusing as the internet is in a constant state of change. But the looks on their faces as I explain in the best way possible, affiliate or network marketing from scratch, led me to believe that the internet could use a simplified explanation. Marketing has evolved from the street merchant able to reach a very small market to a world wide audience on the net. New Years Resolutions Planning

It's New Years today. I wish the best for you! Are you making any New Years Resolutions? How about goals or targets for the New Year? Would you like to increase your chances of actually achieving them?

Write the goals down. Yeah, yeah. You know all about that. Hold your horses... If you know what I'm going to say this isn't for you. Go find something better to do with your life. If you want some tips that really work and you will use them keep reading.

I call this New Years Resolutions Planning. It is a process you won't finish until the end of the year. You will need some time to get started today. You will need a calender and notebook.

The first step in New Years Resolutions Planning is:

Identifying your BIG goals. What are your BIG goals? Are these coming from you or are they being imposed on you? If they are imposed they aren't yours. I suggest working towards the things you REALLY want. Write the BIG goals down on the last date you want to achieve them.

Write them in the present tense "I am...", "I now have...", "I weigh...". Make them measurable. Measurable means you can weigh, count it, hold a ruler to it. Why? When you get there there is no doubt. It also makes it easier for your subconscious to get the picture of what you want. Avoid negative terms such as "loose" or "decrease". Focus on the end result. Write what you want. My example is I consistently weigh 140 pounds. I don't care if I need to loose 5 or 50 pounds . I weigh 140 pounds. I don't care if I need to gain weight to maintain my weight at 140 pounds. I weigh 140 pounds.

What is your immediate reward when you achieve this. Write it down with the goals. Also "FEEL" that you have hit the bulls eye. I can't tell you how many goals or resolutions to have. But, the more you have the harder it will be to stay focused.

New Years Resolutions Planning Step 2

What are the intermediate steps to get from where you are to where you want to be? What are some smaller goals for say March 30. Again make them present tense and measurable. Write them in your calender on that date. How are you going to reward yourself? Write it down.

New Years Resolutions Planning Step 3

What are this months goals? What needs to happen this month so you will be in position to achieve the quarters goals? Write them in present tense and measurable terms in the calender on January 31. Write down your reward.

New Years Resolutions Planning Step 4

What are you weekly goals? These are your baby steps. Make these small and very easily achievable. This is not the place to "stretch your comfort zone". This may be to march in place for 1 minute during a commercial every night. This may be earn $5 a day. You want these to be EASY and very believable. You are going to use these to build belief in yourself and your ability reach the monthly goal. What are your immediate daily rewards? Yes write everything down on the 7th or Sat the 10th which ever makes more sense to you.

New Years Resolutions Planning Step 5

I asked you to pretend to be in the future and move backward to the present. Now be in the present and look to 12/31/09. Do you notice any thing else you need to do? If so what and when? Write it on the calender. What is your reward?

New Years Resolutions Planning Step 6 Evaluation

Choose a day to look and see how you are doing. Are you taking those baby steps? If so make sure you are rewarding yourself. If you're not taking those small steps try to figure out where the problem is. Is the BIG goal really yours? Did you make your baby steps small enough? Did you state your goals in measurable terms? Can you picture inside your head exactly what you wanted? What adjustments do you need to make for next week? Write the next weeks small goals down. Write your reward down too. Also note what resources, supplies, and info may need. Write potential sources for things needed.

That's it folks. My New Years Resolutions Planning. Yes, the ideas are simple. Yes, it takes time. But, if that resolution is really worth doing doesn't it make sense to complete your New Years Resolutions Planning? You choose.

Feeding the Google Monster

Google is a monster, and it's a voracious one at that. Originally conceived as a project by two Stanford PhD candidates, the Google search engine was first designed to crawl across websites, and identify links back to other websites. The theory was that finding common links back to websites would help identify which websites have the richest content. By the way, this is a fairly recent phenomenon-the original project was conceived in team 1996, and Google itself was incorporated in 1998.

Today Google searches account for 70% of all Internet searches, with approximately 200,000,000 people per month searching about 70 times each. In order to feed these searches, and to make them relevant, the Google monster is continuously devouring all new content on the web. Google uses extremely sophisticated algorithms, to parse content to search the websites and to make judgments on the value of the content from its ongoing efforts to devour everything that it can find.

In the early days of Internet marketing, it was very common to promote websites using standard tactics, advertising either on TV, in direct mail or in magazines, driving people to the website. Although this tactic is still in use today, the cost of deploying electronic or printed advertising can become cost prohibitive, and can severely limit the marketer's ability to promote the website.

A much more efficient method of generating web traffic is through feeding the Google monster by producing a steady stream of articles and press releases about your business and about yourself. The articles and press releases should be available on your website, and should also be pushed out into various services and media across the Internet, so that more people find them. If you're content is very well written, they will become interested in your perspective, and will find their way back to your website. Furthermore by attaching the articles and press releases to your website itself, the Google monster will continue continuously parse it for content, and improve your ranking in the search engines.

The key of course in doing this, is to make sure that your content is exceptionally well-written. If you're not a very good writer, think about hiring a professional copywriter to write this material for you. If your articles and press releases are shoddy or shabby in any way, you'll actually be doing yourself more harm than good, because your brand will become associated with inferior quality as well.

Write Down Your Goal

"Write down on paper your goal in life. With that down in black and white, we really can get somewhere. Few can define their goal, much less write it. You cannot find happiness until your goal is clear and in view." A quote from Ross Byron, author of The Rosses of Rossville and that ilk.

Although this quote is from a book written in 1945 it is none the less true today. Even more so if you are an entrepreneur or leader of a small to medium sized business.

When asked why they started their own business, an overwhelming majority respond with the same answer: "so I can do things my way and be in charge of my own destiny." However, the end result is not always what was intended.

Somewhere along the way those particular objectives became a bit fuzzy. Some might even say they were lost in the struggle to earn enough revenue to pay the bills and still make a comfortable living. The problem here is not that the person is unfocused. Far from it, quite often the individual is very focused on their daily tasks and is quite successful in their field of endeavour.

However, the goals may not have been properly articulated and after 5 - 10 or even 15 years their still exists a feeling of not quite getting there. The hours have become long, the income somewhat consistent but ever vulnerable to shrinkage in the market. The freedom that was the original target, remember "so I can do things my way and be in charge of my own destiny" has not been met. We find that we have created a job for ourselves rather than a business.

Without written, specific and measurable how do we assess whether or not they have been achieved. Goals need not just be financial or business related. The goal is for us to work to live not live to work.

Think about it for a few minutes:
- What do you want the business to give back to you in 2 - 3 - 5 years?
- What would you personally want to have / possess as a result of your efforts in 2 - 3 - 5 years?
- What do you want your business to achieve specifically, not just more revenue, but in terms of dollars or percentage growth over the next 2 - 3 - 5 years?

If you can clearly articulate the answer to these three basic questions in writing such that another person, not involved in your business would understand them, congratulations. On the other hand if you have trouble expressing the answer explicitly in writing, what are you going to do about it? Make your first specific goal, the articulation of your specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, timely goals.

You hear or read about all these masses of people who are making a fortune on the Internet. Did you know that ninety five percent who try fail? Do you know why? HTML and SEQ are also good things to know, But they only give you an edge over a few others if you do not know how to use them properly.

Knowledge 2: Do you have a passion about something that can be marketed on the Internet. Perhaps you can write articles about your favorite hobby. Or maybe you could write E-Books and sell them. Maybe you have a special skill that others would pay you for using it for them.

If you have none of these, let me suggest you identify a special interest, maybe dogs for instance. Did you know that if you diligently study almost any given subject for six months you are considered an expert on that subject? There are techniques that can give you the appearance of being an expert but not really being one. When you look for your System to make money on the Internet, keep that tidbit of information handy. You want and need that type of assistance.

Money: Always back to the basic ingredient, huh? Let us face it, it really does take money to make money, but many of these so call gurus hype their package so that for $49.95 you can make money immediately. You fall for it and it really starts costing you money. You will, I hope, know how to avoid such traps after reading this. If you have thousands, there are packages and training sessions by very successful marketers and they will guarantee you success. It will take money, time, effort, money, training by a mentor, and of course it will take money. If you have the money, these guys will give you a turnkey web site that is making MONEY. Let me ask you something, suppose you have the money to purchase success as above and you do it, what happens to you if the market changes directions and you no longer will be making money? My point here is, if what you purchase does not teach you the basics so you could start over on your own, do not buy it. There is an old proverb claimed by the Chinese that Money will buy a book, but it cannot buy knowledge.
